Special Olympics NM Announces 2020 Virtual Games
In-person Special Olympics activities remain suspended until June 30th.  In place of the normal FCI sports (swimming, softball and golf), SONM has implemented the 2020 Virtual Games.  The Virtual Games season will start on June 29th.  Athletes are encouraged to practice for their events from June 29th to July 10th.  Scores can not be collected and submitted until July 7th.  Scores must be turned in by Saturday, July 11th.  A drive-by awards ceremony will be held at various locations on July 18th.  Athletes needing coaching assistance, sports equipment, or competition assistance must fill out this SORR questionnaire.

The Albuquerque area golf courses have begun reopening for limited use, so golfers are able to begin using the courses.  Unfortunately, due to the SOI restrictions, any golfing before June 30th must be managed by the individual or their partner and cannot be part of Special Olympics.

Four Corners Season - CANCELLED
The Four Corners Invitational (FCI) competition, as well practices for Swimming and Softball have been CANCELLED.
Athletes may swim or golf, but not as part of any Special Olympics activities.

SONM Virtual Games
All SONM will be hosting the first State Virtual Games June 29 - July 11.  Events will include general fitness, athletics, bocce, volleyball and softball.  Participants will receive a games t-shirt, certificate of placement and a custom medal.  More information on the SONM website.

State Golf Tournament
In addition to the Virtual Games, SONM is planning on hosting local golf tournaments in place of the FCI golf tournament.  Plans call for a competition at golf courses on August 24th. Other contingencies are planned in case hosting the event at a golf course is not permitted.

Holiday Classic Tournament - CANCELLED
The Holiday Classic scheduled for October 30-31 has been CANCELLED.  In place of this, SONM is working on plans for a Basketball Skills competition.

Basketball Skills Tournament
In place of the Holiday Classic, SONM plans to host a Basketball Skills competition October 24th.  Due to social distancing rules, there won't be one-on-one, three-on-three or five-on-five competitions.  There are no details yet, but it is expected that there will be skills such as the current Level 1 and Level 2 skills, along with other individual events.

Bowling Tournament
The Bowling Tournament is currently scheduled for November 13-15.  Since social distancing rules will likely interfere with the way the tournament is normally conducted, SONM is working on contingency plans to ensure that the tournament will take place in some format.
