Inspire Greatness
Special Olympics Rio Rancho is a delegation of Special Olympics New Mexico.  We are a non-profit organization that provides athletic training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Our athletes enjoy camaraderie and gain a sense of pride and accomplishment through participating in our events.
Rhythmic Gymnastics is a fun and challenging sport combining dance, gymnastics, and the manipulation of apparatus.  The apparatus involved in Rhythmic Gymnastics consists of balls, ropes, hoops, clubs, and ribbons. There are six levels of routines so athletes of all skill levels can compete in Rhythmic Gymnastics.  Routines vary in length and difficulty.  Routines are scored based on performing the movements in the correct order in time to the music.  Rhythmic Gymnastics routines are performed as either an individual event or as a unified event with a non-disabled partner.  Currently, Rhythmic Gymnastics does not have an area or a state competition like the other Special Olympic sports but does have many competitions between the various Rhythmic Gymnastics teams in the area.  More information can be found at Special Olympics Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Note: Traditional Gymnastics (Artistic Gymnastics) is no longer a sport offered by Special Olympics New Mexico.  Albuquerque Gymnastics School does offer classes for individual with disabilities.  You can contact AGS through their website.
